BLAIDS
Black Latinx AIDS Project @UCLA
Stopping stigma and spreading awareness regarding HIV/AIDS, STDs/STIs, and reproductive health
What is B.L.A.I.D.S?
The Black and Latinx AIDS Project is focused on educating at-risk youth about sexual health. BLAIDS aims to improve health outcomes for HIV/AIDS and STIs/STDs by emphasizing prevention and destigmatization through outreach and education. It provides a safe, non-judgmental environment for accessing information and resources, working to de-stigmatize sexual health issues for Black and Latinx youth in Los Angeles, addressing the high prevalence of HIV/AIDS and STIs/STDs. A main event we kick off the year with is the LA AIDS Walk where we practice our advocacy and outreach skills. Throughout the school year we also collaborate with school sites and health organizations in the Los Angeles area, as well as student organizations on the UCLA campus.
